I like the idea. A few more suggestions... Work with defense attorneys to keep them up to snuff on these issues. There are some articles in the literature; they need updating. Work with public defenders, as they have the least money per client. Utah should have a defense attorneys' association; I'd start there. Offer yourselves as possible expert witnesses. Also work with a defense attorney to formulate things to do/not do prior to dealing with police. I have not looked to see if the EFF is active in this area. Call it a high tech version of Ten Rules for Dealing with Police (which I highly recommend). http://flexyourrights.org/10_Rules/, http://www.cato.org/events/100212screening.html Someone mentioned working with the Republican Party in Utah. That's a good idea. Also approach the Ds, as they have a civil rights approach that fits here. This may eventually want some funding for expenses if nothing else. There is grant money available for lots of things; the problem is finding it. And, in case it isn't obvious, include me in. -- Charles Curley /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign Looking for fine software \ / Respect for open standards and/or writing?
