apt-get is the original tool that performs some APT functions. aptitude came much later using a kitchen-sink style idea, it combines most of the other misc apt tools into one tool (apt-get, apt-cache, dselect, etc). There are a few differences in behavior in regards to how it handles things like suggested packages (it installs by default), auto removal of pkgs no longer needed, etc. But these differences are minor, and generally helpful. /* PLUG: http://plug.org, #utah on irc.freenode.net Unsubscribe: http://plug.org/mailman/options/plug Don't fear the penguin. */
