Absolute worst case scenario, I'll likely have a small Windows laptop lying around and I can use Win native programs to extract the icon(s) to ico format, then send them to the Linux box to be converted with ImageMagick or something. It's an ugly method, granted. But if nothing else works, that will. It's 99% chance that I'll only be using old PE format files (or even older 3.x files) for this, so the chances of my needing to do that more than once or twice at most are pretty slim.
