That sounds pretty typical for a commercial hardware or software
vendor.  If you're attaching a linux server to a Hitachi or EMC
storage box, or running Oracle or Veritas on Linux, you're much more
likely to get support if you're running RedHat or CentOS.  Lot's of
commercial vendors don't want to support any thing that isn't
RedHat-ish.
