But 64MB RAM definitely is not enough. What shall I say - music is still playing. But my bash was killed lack of available ram. I can't access the machine any more :-).
Of course. I only have a compact flash card in that machine - not a good idea to swap on it. And the external disk is vfat formatted, read-only mounted. 64MB should be ok with a very light system plus swap space.
Knoppix style distributions are rather memory hungry as they make use of a ramdisk and have to decompress files on the fly. If ever I'm seriously building a machine based on that work I'll install 512MB of ram and run it with the "toram" parameter - all copied into ram. This might speed up loading firefox considerably :-)
