Aha! I have it now. The behaviour of the Player Settings / Remote Button Functions dropdown was just a little too clever for me. Now I see that it adds a "Custom" item even if there isn't a Custom.map file, but will add a "Fred" item if it sees Fred.map. Sorted. kdf Wrote: > > > > > > > This one is puzzling me. I've done the debugging you suggested and can't see anything in the log file to suggest its transcoding, but then I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for. I have checked that there is no limit on the maxbitrate for this player. Getting the details of the track through the Softsqueeze menus definitely says its playing at the higher, FLAC, bit rate. As an experiment I did set a lower bit rate (192), and then it reports, as one might expect, that the bit rate is 728 (or whatever) reduced to 192. I do appreciate the help but suspect I don't want to spend too much more time on this - the feature isn't that important to me on Softsqueeze, I guess its my understanding of how this thing works thats the issue for me at the moment and that's really my problem and not anyone elses!!
