So, if "Massive Attack & Mos Def" is submitted this is the same as if
multiple artists were not configured.
I just tested with 3 artists and for the album I get "I Against I
(Single)TestA by Massive Attack, Mos Def, TestA" and the track "I
Against I from I Against I (Single)TestA by Massive Attack & Mos Def &
TestA". I'd prefer if Slimserver made this "I Against I from I Against
I (Single)TestA by Massive Attack, Mos Def & TestA" but that's just a
preference.
I modified my local copy of the SlimScrobbler to submit multiple
artists. Your "Constant Sorrow.flac" has two Artists, "Soggy Bottom
Boys" and "Dan Tyminski".
The Scrobbler API only allows for one artist per track, so I tried
submitting "Soggy Bottom Boys, Dan Tyminski" and "Soggy Bottom Boys &
Dan Tyminski", but in each of those cases, I found "Soggy Bottom Boys -
I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow [Radio Station Version]" in my last played
list on my profile.
Obviously, there is some magic going on in the AudioScrobbler server ;-)
Just an idea. It sounds like MusicBrainz is the way forward anyway.
Yes. I'm not fully comfortable with the musicbrainz datamodel that
allows only one Artist (the rest should be added to the track name with
"feat. <other artists>") but if the AudioScrobbler guys want to use
MusicBrainz as well, we should send them data that is as clean as possible.
Ian: what is your opinion on this matter: Should I commit my multiple
artists code (it should work identically to the single artist version in
the wast majority of cases) or ditch it?
Regards,
Hakan
