The plugin has to be activated from the Plugin menu list in order to react to events. If you don't bother doing that, no events will trigger anything. If you go into an event to list the scripts, pressing play will run the script immediately. Yes, the script is saved for that event, but nothing will happen if you don't activate the plugin.
2. The script I have sleeps the computer ok, but of course I have to remember to turn the SB off (perhaps there's no need to do this, but I would like to). Can someone provide me with a script that turns the SB off (which I could put as part of my script)?
If you shut down your computer, the SB is effectively as idle as it can ever be.
