Just to be clear, I think there may be two entirely separate "Duplicate Artist" problems (they may have a common cause, but there are two different scenarios).
One has to do with playlists - I'm not having this problem myself, but I infer from the discussion that this has something to do with duplicate artists being generated during a scan if the artist appears in a playlist. As an aside - haven't similar problems been reported elsewhere in this vein? IE the scanner code is reading the library and then reading through the playlists and doing something twice? Anyway, I'll stay out of this one... ... as the other, the one I reported, definitely has nothing to do with playlists - I don't use any. Its really easy to reproduce - just duplicate an album in your collection, edit the tags so it looks like a new album (but the same artist), and then rescan (without clearing the cache). The new album will appear under a duplicate of the artist, which happens because something is comparing the "new" artist name with the name given in the NAMESEARCH field, which after Lazification now also has a number in it. This is corrected only by clearing and rescanning. Currently on LazyScan v39 and Slimserver 6.2.1 nightly 14/11.
