Sorry to rake over these embers, but I've bought a new laptop and
downloaded Slimserver 2.1 + alien BBC + mplayer + the codecs + lame and
installed exactly in accordance with the instructions, but I get no
radio.

The folder structure is exactly as on the old machine with all the
critical files in the same folders.

On checking the slimserver-convert.conf file I found that there were
some differences so I've tried both versions with exactly the same
result.

Alien BBC is present in the LH window and I can navigate to a station
so that the squeezebox says it is playing Radio 4 or whatever but there
is no sound. There is no RTSP error message but the "Shorten" boxes are
unchecked in Server Settings\File Types and when I try to check them I
get this:

"Required binary was not found: [shorten] -x $FILE$ - | [flac] -cs
--totally-silent --compression-level-0 --endian little --sign signed
--channels 2 --bps 16 --sample-rate 44100 -
Required binary was not found: [shorten] -x $FILE$ - | [lame]
--resample 44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ --abr $BITRATE$ - -
Required binary was not found: [shorten] -x $FILE$ - "

Any ideas?

James
