There is an application called socketwrapper which pipe audio stream from Mplayer to flac or lame. There may be a problem with it. Some antivirus/firewall apps block it - try disabling any AV or firewall and run the test.
Also in slimserver-convert.conf change #PIPE# to #DEBUGPIPE# and the socketwrapper app will generate some debug information.
