What we're trying to do is pin down the problem. With AlienBBc the problems are either 1. Mplayer 2. Chain of app delivering audio from Mplayer to the SB.
Since Mplayer is working the problem likely lies in the chain of apps BBC-> Mplayer -> socketwrapper -> FLAC/Lame/nothing for WAV -> SB. Selecting RTSP->WAV removes FLAC and LAME from chain. So if there is no sound then the problem is likely to be socketwrapper or something preventing socketwrapper from running. This is usually a firewall (E.g. Zonealarm which must be removed not just disabled) or an AV. There is also another situation where the distributed version of socketwrapper has a problem - there is a modified version to fix this.
