The problem is "Failed to open /dev/fd/3"

This seems to be distribution specific - please search other posts. In
some cases it is simply a matter of changing mplayer.sh to start
#!/bin/bash rather than #!/bin/sh, but other cases seem to need
something else done to enable the /dev/fd files.
