Really? There's no way to have a plugin hook into the generation of web page output? (without altering the template in skin, that is). What about hooking into CMDWRAPPERS or somesuch?
Everything is possible, of course. After all this is open source. I could have you hack the main server code to better integrate the plugin ;-). What I meant is that currently there was no official way to do so, no API call, if you want. And I don't know the unofficial solution, yet.
Can a plugin be hooked into any other operations, such as scanning?
It must be possible, as eg. the lazy search plugin shows. But as a plugin author you'd have to keep up with every change in the code as soon as you leave defined paths (plugin API). And this isn't always easy.
