Danny, Before you try alternative firewalls, have you tried Ian Cooke's alternative socketwrapper? There have been some reports of people using non Zone Alarm firewalls that were fixed by this, so I would definately try it first.
You need to download the zip file and replace your existing c:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\socketwrapper.exe with Ian's one.
