If you use mplayer to record a stream in Real Audio (i.e. mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile ABC.ra rtsp...) and then play it back through RealPlayer for Linux and mplayer, you can test whether it is an mplayer issues . That same saved RA file can then be saved in WAV by playing through mplayer and using racook and ffcook for another listener test comparison to see if it codec specific.
