As far as I can see, the codec error message produced by Mplayer are the same inside and outside slimserver - the only difference seems to be when mplayer starts playing nothing is delivered to slimserver.
There is something strange about the log, I would have expected some messages in the log such as the Mplayer banner and although it looks like mplayer is starting, mplayer.sh should produce a message "Launching" but it doesn't. Can you edit slimserver-convert.conf and change the "-really-quiet" to "-v" in the RTSP entries for mplayer.
