I've mentioned this before and not got anywhere but now I think I've got a bit further with tracking down the problem.
When Randommix adds a new track to the playlist it takes around 8 seconds to return a selection from my lib of 11,000 tracks. The problem is that it seems to block the streaming while it is doing it. This will cause a playing SB1 to empty it's buffer and stop playback whilst another player is adding a new random track. Other SB2's are not affected, presumably because of their larger buffer. I understand that the time taken to add a new track was increased by the logic that prevents repeats but with a large library this is not really a problem so an option not to check for duplicates would help here. I have also seen the situation when updating a page on the web UI has caused the SB1's buffer to empty too. This is all with a fully wired network of 2 SB1's and 2 SB2's using 6.5 on windows. using 6.2 I see non of these problems. Here's a log that shows it taking 8 seconds to make a selection while MusicInfo has to wait to update the display. 2006-04-19 23:34:36.7150 RandomPlay: Starting random selection of 1 items for type: track 2006-04-19 23:34:44.7656 RandomPlay: Find returned 1 items 2006-04-19 23:34:44.7662 RandomPlay: Adding track: Afro Charlie, 5058 2006-04-19 23:34:44.7728 RandomPlay: Playing continuous track mode with 12 items 2006-04-19 23:34:46.0305 MusicInfoSCR (Slim::Player::SqueezeboxG=ARRAY(0x2908700)): empty artist/album?
