Of course now I can't persuade it to generate the exception! When I switch in and out off slimreader the changeover is very slow and sometimes only the CD default image and the track info appear. No buttons/tabs
I'll keep playing but don't worry - I found a reg editor! My server is 6.5b1 and the player is softsqueeze 2.2 on an old laptop. The windows version of slimreader woks ok with this configuration.
