Looks like I'm being as clear as mud on this thread, eh? All right let's start from what I want to do.
I just want to record anything I'm listening to on the Squeezebox at that moment with a couple of button presses on a remote. I don't care if it's done from the Squeezebox or something external to it, via analog or optical. I want that recorded show to be portable in terms of format, i.e. MP3 or AAC so that I can stick it on an iPod. I will not be near the computer so if the SB won't do it I guess I need another 'box'. I need it to be simple and reliable... no 'bleeding edge' products with firmware workarounds, etc. It should also be as silent as the SB in operation.
