The release notes of the latest available say:

This might explain the repeated call to the plugin
I have a SBG, SB2, and SB3 -- only the SB2 is playing, no
synchronization,
and I'm using the web interface (default skin) to call the plugin.
...though the issue was occurring when using the player's interface. I'd
still recommend you update to the really latest and greatest and give it
another try.
Could you try to enable _all_ other plugins and see, whether it's still
crashing?
do you mean disable?
