after turning on d_cli and reproducing the problem, checked the log
file, turns out nothing gets logged at all (it's completely blank).

What log file did you check? Slimserver provides a link to the file in the web interface (where you turn on d_cli)

Also, when I restarted SS to be able to actualy see the log, the d_cli
gets cleared (on startup) is that normal?

Try running slimserver from the command line "slim.exe -d_cli"
