The mechanism of the plugin is a bit complicated to explain, but to make
it simple, the plugin uses mDNS to broadcast presence of virtual AirPlay
devices. Nothing then happens until an AirPlay controller that has
detected such devices starts audio playback. The plugin then opens 3
ports, launches a binary helper that open a webserver and finally
informs the real SB player that audio can be found on that webserver.

Issues can happen at playback time if any of these ports are blocked,
but before any of them are tentatively opened, an AirPlay controller
should see the virtual AirPlay devices. So if you do not even see
players, this is not (yet) a firewall problem.

When you say you do not see the players, what controller are you using
to try to play? AirTunes, iPhone, other?
