Ah, now I start to understand.
So the problem is not that the metadata is missing (correct track
showing but some of the information missing, like artist, album etc;
this frequently happens with online services) but that the track
information is not updating at all?

Which server version is this?

I understand it a bit better, sounds like when iPeng gets the first
update notification the data is not yet there and then it takes until
the next regular update for the correct information to show up.
I have never seen this.

There also has been a frequent issue with some server versions that a
wrong track was shown (typically the one before the one actually
playing) but that affected all interfaces, not just iPeng.

I understand why in this case interfaces might be affected differently
(the web interface, for example, doesn't receive any notifications but
just polls for new information) but it doesn't really explain why the
information is wrong at first
