The "programmes" feed is part of the old obsolete APIs (see
http://www.bbc.co.uk/developer/technology/apis.html ) which BBC is
slowly being killed as they migrate their own system from it.  The BBC
encouraged developers to use the various APIs and then killed them off
one by one as something new and shiny came along - leaving disillusioned
developers.
