this is the line normally used by LMS to convert flac to mp3:
flc mp3 * *

[flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [lame] --silent -q $QUALITY$

first step converts flac to pcm, second encode back in mp3 using lame.
If lame handle pcm same way as SOX does (very high probability) the
conversion will fail after aproximately 20 min (depending on the flac
compression).
More, if you somehow ask the sistem to downsample, this is the code that
will be applied BEFORE the mp3 conversion:
flc flc transcode *
# FT:{START=--skip=%t}U:{END=--until=%v}D:{RESAMPLE=-r %d}
[flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [sox] -q -t wav - -t flac -C 0
$RESAMPLE$ -
that for sure cause SOX to stop after more or les 20 min. For this
reason upgrading your subscription is not a good idea.
BTW, I own a bunch of SB, two of them are SB3 (the model before duet and
touch) and they are perfect with flac (and great with pcm), why are you
converting to mp3? limited bandwidth? if so, solution is to use an
external wireless extender, wired to the SB.
