Well, I guess listening with my head in the sand would be a bit.. 
itchy, and I would be glad to help, if  I can.

What is the exact path to the folder, you would like to check?

I managed to check
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/Bin/arm-linux/
with the command from above - it lists a lot of subfolders with
permissions.
