That sort of makes sense but nothing should be changing priority but
that the routine is called from Pipeline.pm.  My plugin uses a lot of
Win32 stuff as well - so if one Win32 call fails - perhaps some of mine
do as well.

A way to test would be to disable "native" AAC playing and play an AAC
stream.

1. Disable native AAC by going to WebUI Settings/Advanced/Filetypes - in
the AAC section change the AAC entry "native" to "disabled" and click
Apply.
2. Note start time
3. Try playing an AAC stream such as
http://www.somafm.com/illstreet64.pls
4. After music playing for about 30 sec - clear playlist
5. Note stop time.
6. Check server.log for messages between start and end time (Step 2 & 5)
