I think this time, the bridge does its job as expected: the track it
receives from LMS is 48000 because you have told LMS that the Marantz
only supports up to 48000. You have also set pcm mode to wav only.

So when you set sampling rate to exactly 96000, it will upsample to
96000 and send that in a wav format to the Marantz

When you set sampligin rate to ‘no higher’ than 96000, the every track
below 96000 will remain untouched and because 48000 is received, it’s a
match

I agree that we don’t need multiple resampling, hence the logic was to
choose where you want it to happen: in LMS or in the bridge

I added these ‘full processing, options for 2 reasons

- features: true gapless, replay gain, fading
- compatibility: by sending the same format always to the UPnP player,
one can expect better compatibility

Now you can decide to have, for example, C3PO do format and rate
adaptation and it certainly has more flexibility, but unless you send
pcm to the bridge, you won’t have the ‘features’ and if you do you’ll
use maximum network bandwidth which a resource that I’m trying to
preserve

So, and again for the sake of tests, the ‘max sample rate’ that is wha
the bridge reports to LMS should not be set to a value lower that the
resampling rate. It’s not making it work incorrectly, but as you said,
it multiplies resampling for no reasons. As soon as you play with
resampling and full processing mode, you could let the max sample rate
to 192000 or higher
