Using Raspberry Pi 3B+ with pCp 4.1, LMS 7.9.2 (1552283404) and Spotty v.2.7.5 have changed from the auto selected helper spotty-hf (0.12.2) to spotty-muslhf (0.12.2) ....seems to have fixed the problem.....only been using for a couple of hours so not conclusive......but might be worth trying.
