i tried to uderstand why all my artists pictures were changed by a white start since since i rescan my library from scratch, and it seems that LastFM change his policy about artists covers. I may misunderstood but this plugin seems to be affected.
I was looking into this yesterday and ended on the same discussion topic :-(. Yes, that's really bad news. Will have to see what alternative I can use.
