I would think its LMS - but need more info to be sure. Are you using 1
combined artist list? Or do you have both "Artists" and "Album Artists"
appearing in Material? Are you usin server categories? Does the same
happen with the default web UI? If you load Material in your browser as
follows:

Then material will clear its caches, and log its messages to the console
of your browser's developer tools. (You need to change "lms-ip" for your
server host/ip, and must specify "/desktop" or "/mobile")
When clicking on "Album Artists", you should see something like the
following logged in the console:

This was with LMS configured for 2 artists lists, and using server
