OK, it went as you expected, got the server interface, but hung with the
player enabled.  First the results.  Log file:

I had some trouble getting the log file created.  First, I wasn't sure
that restart meant restart SlX or the computer.  When I restarted the
computer, there were a couple of error messages.

I thought ctrl-shift-d disabled the player, but finally noticed the
switch for that, so "flipped" it to OFF and then got the server
interface.  Then rebooted again but no log file on the desktop.  Started
SlX and then got the log file.  I'm not entirely clear on the sequence
that got it.  I can explore more if you wish.  

SlX found the server using the server name, no problem. I have an issue
there with 2 ip addresses, one static and one dhcp.  It's Arch linux so
I need to research that.  I use the static ip from a browser, but SlX
found the dhcp address and appears to work there.
