I just discovered that thread right now with the warning at the begining regarding exposition of squeezebox local IP through port forwarding. I didn't take the time to read all the threads to see weither you found a better option. And TBH, i don't have an Alexa or Siri or any of these kind of stuff so I don't even know why you should have to expose your IP outside the Home. However, if it is still of interest, I may have a SAFE trick to access remotely your server and your Home players. ZeroTier have a free plan where you setup a private (authentification and upon invitation only is required) VPN. So without the hassel of port forwarding you can access your home Music server from your phone thousands of miles away and stream your music in CD quality over your phone (with the appropriate app).
