I added two albums and used "Music Folder" to browse to and play the album I added first. Only that album was added to "New Music". The artist is found in Album Artist, but it is not found using the search. I've set Material to default but as I have both skins bookmarked, it doesn't really matter. I only use the default skin for testing purposes and to copy the title of WORKS, because Material doesn't allow selecting text.
