In the end I removed cache and prefs and did a delete and rescan. I think the issue may have had something to do wiht runinng out of space on the ssd-card partition so I've increased that. Then I added MAI, all options are checked except 'store placeholder files', added seperate (empty) folders for artwork, artist, lyrics and did a new/changed rescan: Discovering files/directories: /mnt/music (115263 of 115263) Complete 00:03:06 Scanning new music files: /mnt/music (10 of 10) Complete 00:00:01 Discovering playlists: /mnt/music/playlists (1 of 1) Complete 00:00:00 Album cover lookup (4253 of 4253) Complete 00:00:33 Artist picture lookup (2343 of 2343) Complete 01:12:47 Building full text index (7 of 7) Complete 00:00:42 Find updated coverart files (8028 of 8028) Complete 00:01:46 Pre-caching Artwork (86 of 86) Complete 00:00:11 Database Optimize (2 of 2) Complete 00:01:00 The server has finished scanning your media library. Total Time: 01:20:06 (Monday, September 14, 2020 / 8:20 AM) But there's nothing in my mai/artist (except 'artist.png.missing' 0 bytes), artwork or lyrics folders or in cache/mai_coverart. If I browse for artist pictures they appear from Allmusic and Discogs, and so do bios, discography etc. so some aspects of the lookup seems to be working.
