Even with a delay, it would be useful for some things. For instance, I've got a USB record player, and I've been using it to transfer my vinyl over to MP3. However, because my computer is in my back room, and all I've got are tiny little speakers, I can't really listen to them while they're recording unless I'm seated in front of my desk. I'd like to pipe the feed to Slimserver so I can listen (and know when the record is over) while recording.
