That means that you need a player with digital output. The "Hifiberry
Digi+ Pro" would be a good solution. Other vendors of audio HATs than
Hifiberry are e.g. Allo or JustBoom. You just put the HAT on top of the
RaspberryPi board (no cabling required).
The installation of an operating system is done by copying an image on a
MicroSD card. Hifiberry has its own OS: HifiberryOS ('www.hifiberry.com'
(http://www.hifiberry.com)). Alternatives are e.g. Volumio
('www.volumio.org' (http://www.volumio.org)) or piCorePlayer
('www.picoreplayer.org' (http://www.picoreplayer.org)). All of them can
interact with LMS. HifiberryOS and Volumio are commercial solutions
while piCorePlayer is an open source projects of some forum members (=
lot of support here). You'll find a description how to install the
software on the according home pages.
Altogether you need
- RaspberryPi (3B or 4)
- audio HAT
- microSD card
- case/enclosure
- USB power supply
Or follow the suggestion of d6jg. ;-)
