OK, thanks for the followup. I'm a little surprised this ever worked without a paid subscription (or lifetime access from a prior purchase), but I realize now that's not called out in the original post. There was some discussion of folks trying it without a sub earlier in the thread, but I was unaware it actually worked.
I assume then that the change here is that PocketCasts is being more clear about its enforcement of access to the APIs backing the web player, which seems fair to me.
