But since making templates is a bit more complicated my idea is that users can publish their standard menus which is harder to configure, and I will use this information to create new configurable templates.
If you are interested in making the templates yourself, they consist of two files. A .xml file that defines the parameters and a .template files that contains the menu configuration. The .template files cotains the normal menu configuration format, but you can use the [% .. %] syntax to insert parameters i it. Look at the files in the Plugins/CustomBrowse/Templates directory for a sample. If you start with one of the files in Plugins/CustomBrowse/Templates it is important to remember to remove the <downloadidentifier>...</downloadidentifier> entry. To publish a template, you put your template in the template directory specified i the Custom Browse section in Server Settings/Plugins, then create a new menu with the menu type of your template and don't choose to customize the menu configuration. Use the publish link besides the menu to publish it. If you choose to "Customize" the menu configuration its relation to the template is lost and the published menu will just have configurable menu name but nothing else. I think Custom Scan will read whats is in the field even though it doesn't follow the standard, but using other formats than the specified might be a bad idea. Anyway, I think you can do most of this already today. I don't think SlimServer will read these tags, so you would have to configure Custom Scan plugin to read "SUBTITLE"(for TIT3 tag) and "DATE"(for TDAT tag) tags. Then create a menu of types below and use "SUBTITLE" and "DATE" for the tag name parameters. concert date/album: Custom Tags Albums (with DATE as tag name) concert date/artist: Custom Tags (with DATE as tag name) venue: Custom Tags Songs (with SUBTITLE as tag name) album/concert date: Not possible in a good way, I'll add a "Custom Album Tags" template for it to the wish list venue/artist: Custom Tags (with SUBTITLE as tag name) Phil Meyer;203017 Wrote: > I notice that if I re-edit a customised menu, I get blank lines in > between each line of the xml. Do you edit the menus from the Custom Browse web interface, or do you edit the files manually in a text editor ? -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.homeip.net) 'My download page' (http://erland.homeip.net/download) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library and RandomPlayList plugins' (http://wiki.erland.homeip.net/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35378 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
