I'll get my menus working how I want first, then think about making a template.

I think that I will avoid TDAT then.  I see there's a recording date in the ID3 
standard, but mp3Tag doesn't support it, so perhaps I'll just create some new 
TXXX frames called CONCERTVENUE, CONCERTLOCATION, CONCERTDATE.  Later, I may 
port my CONCERTDATE to the recording date field (if mp3Tag supports it in the 
future, otherwise I don't know how to get it in there!), and may set TIT3 to an 
amalgamation of CONCERTVENUE (eg. "Shepherds Bush Empire") and CONCERTLOCATION 
("London, UK").

Can CustomBrowse see these custom scan fields and display them in the 
replacement song info menu?
