Have played a few tracks this evening with the Pi disconnected from Wi-Fi and set as the WAP, and confirmed that Playlog plugin shows no history of the tracks played - presume this also means the Last.fm plugin won't store up any Scrobbles. Odd to think the Raspberry Pi has no internal clock on the motherboard like PCs do - guess it's a space saving measure to avoid needing to put a battery on the board.
Will experiment tomorrow to see if I can make the phone a WAP and tether the Pi to that. What would happen in the "cruise ship" scenario, where the Android phone isn't connect to any mobile data or Wi-Fi network - would there be anything for the Pi to actually tether to on the phone..?
