Are you sure about that, Michael? I just tested again and added a song to one of my Spotify playlists, using the LMS web UI (default skin). If I open the Spotify app it appears in the Playlist.
There are many ways to add something to some playlist. Spotty has menus to add tracks to Spotify playlists. It seems the Material skin has a feature to add tracks to locally stored playlists. So depending on which UI and feature you use either local or remote playlists are updated...
