I'm running my living room setup on a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.8 GHz) with 1GB of memory and it takes less than a minute to startup SlimServer. I think its about 15-30 seconnds, but I haven't measured exactly, and this also includes the Mixed Tag module with about 3000 tracks. On the development machine a Pentium M 1.7GHz it takes between 10-15 seconds. Both these machines should be a lot slower than yours. The difference I can see between our setups are: - I'm running Linux and you are running XP - Your CPU and memory should make your machine a lot faster than mine - I'm running a separate MySQL installation and you are probably running the one bundled with SlimServer, but this won't affect Custom Browse. - The Multi Library configuration may differ. Some questions: 1. How many libraries do you have defined in the Multi Library plugin ? 2. Is any of the "Included Custom Browse menus" checkboxes checked for any of the libraries in the Multi Library plugin ? 3. Do you have the debug option enabled for Custom Browse in "Server Settings/Plugins" ? (If enabled, this will slow down startup performance) Some things to try follows below, try them separately so we can see which one that (if any) that affects the performance. - Could you try to disable the Multi Library plugin and enable the Custom Browse plugin and see if it gets a lot faster ? - If you haven't any of the "Included Custom Browse menus" checkboxes checked, could you try to goto the "Multi Library" section of "Server Settings/Plugin" and unmark the "Selectable Custom Browse menus" option.
