CDplayer seems to bring out the worst in systems. I thought Win10 was bad. I've experienced Pi's USB quirks besides CD also with GSM/Mobile dongles, often chipset related so that certain combos just fail. I have a dish of 4 BT dongles - and eventually gave up on BT. It is worth trying a powered USB hub and possibly older USB 2.0 found in a drawer. Although even then I had to make a special cable which cut the +5V line on the HUB to Pi connection - it kept the Pi alive when PSU was unplugged. > I switched over to using a win10 setup where sound works! Metadata lookup has nothing to do with playing the CD except initial CD TOC load gives the "key" to lookup. Check Plugins settings is set to MusicBrainz.
