Yes, they're front-ends which can utilise your PC's CPU rather than
your server's, thus (hopefully) giving a whizzier experience. SlimFX is
flash-based and lives in a web-browser, whereas Moose (click the link
in my sig) is a standalone PC app.

Neither offer music playback, although both work alongside softsqueeze
and squeezeslave to provide audio on your non-server PC.
