I use on Windows XP CustomBrowse 1.26, CustomScan 1.24, MultiLibrary 1.6
and SlimServer-Version: 6.5.5 - 14150 - Windows XP - DE - cp1252
Perl-Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL-Version: 5.0.22-community-nt

I double checked the non ascii problem. When the GROUPING tag comprises
a German umlaut the described problem appears. But when e.g. the ARTIST
tag comprises a German umlaut (and the GROUPING tag doesn't) everything
works fine. So it seems to be a problem with customs tags. Maybe it's
more a problem of CustomScan than of CustomBrowse?

Another (for me) important question:

I want to have the following browse menus:

Classical Music
Works by Composer
<Composer>
<Grouping> if not empty, else <Song>
<Artist>
<Song>
Albums
<Album>
<Grouping> if not empty, else
<Song>

I already created these menus based on your classical music wiki but
without the "if not empty else" logic. Since some albums contain both
works, consisting of multiple songs (like a sonata or symphony) as well
as single song tracks (like Beethoven's "Für Elise" or Schumann's
"Träumerei"), when browsing by albums using the above second menu
should display in the second hierachy the GROUPING tag for multi track
pieces but the song for single track pieces.

Is such a mixed display possible with your plugin?

At the moment the single track pieces are not shown since the GROUPING
tag is empty for these tracks.

And further:
The above first menu structure is similar to your wiki example but has
in addition the ARTIST between the GROUPING and the SONG hierarchy. The
reason is that I might e.g. have different versions of a symphony played
by differents artists. Without the ARTIST level I would end up with the
songs of the different versions mixed up at the song level. But another
solution would be to have the menu like

Classical Music
Works by Composer
<Composer>
<Grouping (Artist)> if not empty, else <Song (Artist)>
<Song>

showing the artist in parentheses after the GROUPING or the TITLE tag.
This would avoid too deep menu structures. The last song level should
of course only be accessible for tracks having the GROUPING tag set.
For single track pieces the song is already shown on the "Grouping
level".

Is that possible?

I know, that's a lot of special questions, but first I have the
impression that it could perhaps be possible to realize that all with
your plugins, and second, in my opinion without the described logic it
would still not be possible to browse classical music in an optimal way
(of course I am still invetigating and open for all proposals and
improvements of my ideas).
