Sorry for the late response. dip;239328 Wrote: > > Classical Music > Works by Composer > <Composer> > <Grouping> if not empty, else <Song> > <Artist> > <Song> > The closest thing here is to follow the wiki for the "Works by Composer" menu but also enter a "Level 3 tag" and Level 3 name" for the ARTIST tag.
This will result in a menu that solves the case when grouping is not empty. To solve the case where grouping is empty you would have to edit the XML manually. To do this, just select the "Customize" radio button an the bottom of the page when editing the menu. To make it work you will have to add a new <menu> element just below the </menu> tag for the level that represents the grouping tag value. If several <menu> elements exist on the same level their items will be displayed beneath each other. So you will have to choose if you like the grouping items to be the first and then followed by ungrouped songs or if you like them to be in the reversed order. It's not that simple to edit the XML manually, so my suggestion is that you start with a simpler example to get the understanding how it works. dip;239328 Wrote: > > Albums > <Album> > <Grouping> if not empty, else <Song> > <Song> > The easiest way to get this menu is to start with the "Custom Album Tags" menu type. This will result in that you get a working menu for the case when GROUPING is not empty. For the case when grouping is empty, you will have to do manual XML editing in the same way as I described above. dip;239328 Wrote: > > Classical Music > Works by Composer > <Composer> > <Grouping (Artist)> if not empty, else <Song (Artist)> > <Song> > This is also possible but would require manual XML editing. The "Mixed Tags" menu is probably the best start also in this case. This menu would be a bit more complex than the ones mentioned above, since you like to display both the grouping and artist information on the same menu level. dip;239328 Wrote: > > I know, that's a lot of special questions, but first I have the > impression that it could perhaps be possible to realize that all with > your plugins, and second, in my opinion without the described logic it > would still not be possible to browse classical music in an optimal way > (of course I am still invetigating and open for all proposals and > improvements of my ideas). The possibility to show songs that doesn't have the "grouping" tag defined has actually been a request before, so this is something that might be added as an option to for example the "Mixed Tags" menu template in future. It will probably not happen in the next couple of months though, so if you are in a hurry you will have to do it yourself. For classical music I really think you should have a look at the "Tags" menu created by default if you have both Custom Browse and Custom Scan installed and have used the Mixed Tag scanning module in Custom Scan. The "Tags" menu is an instance of the menu type "Dynamic Tags". It is more hardcoded in that you can't specify each menu level in advanced, instead it will make it possible to choose all available scanned tags on all menu levels in any order. On each menu level you can also step out into "Matched Songs", "Matched Albums" or "Matched <Custom Tag>". For classical music this menu is preferable in my opinion unless you like to limit the browsing possibilities to a specific structure for some reason. There is a wiki page that describes how to setup a new "Dynamic Tags" based menu for classical music here: http://wiki.erland.homeip.net/index.php/Setup:_A_dynamic_browse_menu_to_browse_your_music_by_tags The "Tags" menu will in my opinion make many of the more advanced menu types in Custom Browse obsolete. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.homeip.net) 'My download page' (http://erland.homeip.net/download) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.homeip.net/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39788 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
