Liam - please note that you wouldn't need AlienBBC with a hardware player. WMA 
is decoded on the player in these cases. So if you're serious about a SB it 
might be worth getting one now, instead of wasting your time with configuring 
AlienBBC only needed for SoftSqueeze.

FreeNAS is FreeBSD based. I added mplayer and the codecs I thought were 
necessary for AlienBBC to the SlimNAS package.

I'm sorry I didn't mention it earlier - didn't remember it myself... There are 
some limitations compared to a "standard" Linux installation, as there's no 
sound hardware support in FreeNAS. Thus SlimNAS uses a patched version of 
mplayer (courtesy of flipflip who encountered the same limitation in the 
Diskstation family of NAS devices). This patch requires a few changes to the 
transcoding configuration.
