> OK in your setup you need AlienBC. Liam - please note that you wouldn't need AlienBBC with a hardware player. WMA is decoded on the player in these cases. So if you're serious about a SB it might be worth getting one now, instead of wasting your time with configuring AlienBBC only needed for SoftSqueeze.
> Softsqueeze does not support WMA and needs to be transcoded. AlienBBC > provides the necessary transcoding rules for Linux and OSX platforms. > SlimNAS is Linux based. FreeNAS is FreeBSD based. I added mplayer and the codecs I thought were necessary for AlienBBC to the SlimNAS package. Did you read the "AlienBBC on SlimNAS" section on my website? http://www.herger.net/slim/detail.php?nr=1045&kategorie=slim I'm sorry I didn't mention it earlier - didn't remember it myself... There are some limitations compared to a "standard" Linux installation, as there's no sound hardware support in FreeNAS. Thus SlimNAS uses a patched version of mplayer (courtesy of flipflip who encountered the same limitation in the Diskstation family of NAS devices). This patch requires a few changes to the transcoding configuration.
