Unfortunately LastFM changed the way that the streaming service worked and abandoned the original system. It just about works as you can see but is no longer fully functional.
Try SqueezeCentre 7, the LastFM plugin is fully functional again there. SlimDevices are supposed to be working on a fully integrated LastFM plugin as well. I've never added extra functionality to the player interface because I find entering data quite painful with the remote. I can't believe people would actually type in a whole artist name in order to play the similar artist's station? 'Similar Artist' stations for recently played tracks are automatically available from the plugin's station menu though.
